I think this show is sexist. Merlin and Arthur are allowed to be good guys that do awful things sometimes without suffering. But Gwen is written as never doing bad things and Morgana is portrayed as the worst villain the show has ever had (despite having actual motivation unlike other villains). Neither is allowed to be truly complex and they’re both burdened with having to be ‘perfect’ or ‘evil’. The other women from Arthurian books barely make an appearance while the men get regular roles. :(
