Like kissing, but there's a winner.

TV taught me how to feel Now real life has no appeal

QUANTUM OF SOLACE (2008)

#see this is why i can’t deal with people who were like QOS WAS TOO MUCH OF A DIVERGENCE FROM THE BOND AESTHETIC. TOO DARK AND EDGY AND VIOLENT AND GRITTY AND TORMENTED. IT’S NOT SLICK. HE’S NOT QUIPPY. THERE ARE NO GADGETS. #but i really see how they felt they needed this as a bridge between the devastation of casino royale and carrying on with the franchise? because people aren’t going to take as kindly to continuity-less standalones anymore and we live and breathe continuity; and if you slide from what happened with vesper back into SUAVE TUXEDO-CLAD LADYKILLER immediately the emotional thread is just completely lost #he’s raw and he’s angry and he’s wild and reckless in this #but the plot (the REAL plot) is about him coming to terms with the shit that went down in casino royale and this final sequence really hammers that home - that he’s settled in himself again and able to put up that facade #the way he deals with vesper’s boyfriend + the CSIS agent? pure ~bond. he’s assured and snarky and achingly cool and collected. it’s still part a show of course - and still part a show for M who he needs to have confidence in him again - but he’s let himself psychologically integrate all that trauma. and now going forward we’re going to SEE that ~james bond~ character (his meta character) again; the return to classic continuity with the presence of moneypenny (!!!!!!) has already shown that’s the direction they’re taking. i mean i feel bad that it wasn’t as much of a success because it was emotionally unsettling and people don’t want that from their bond films but expect it of a different sort of a franchise with this one but now that they’re finally getting their shit together from bond 23 i’m beyond excited about where this is all going to go.#IN CONCLUSION: WHERE THE FUCK IS ALL THIS BOND META COMING FROM
THE BOND META IS GOOD. I had this EXACT arguement with a group of my friends yesterday - I LOVE the new bond films but they all think they’re too dark and I was like ‘BUT IF THEY DON’T GO DARK YOU LOSE ALL CONTINUITY AND I THINK WE ESTABLISHED WITH THE END OF THE FIRST FRANCHISE THAT AUDIENCES JUST DON’T DIG STAND-ALONE STUFF ANYMORE.’

Naomi Narris Will Be Playing “Moneypenny” in the 23rd James Bond Movie.
MGM financial woes forced the next James Bond movie to be put on a 2 year hiatus. It seems that the franchise is back on track and the leading lady will be UK actress Naomie Harris. You may recognize her from the Pirates of the Caribbean series as Tia Dalma, the goddess of the seas. Daniel Craig will reprise his role as James Bond. Revolutionary Road director Sam Mendes is set to direct Bond 23 (currently in pre-production), which will be released November 9th 2012. (ron)

#i think i’m happy about this? #on the one hand moneypenny hasn’t been a big factor in the franchise in the past #on the other it’s a very recognizable part that could easily be more vital to the series if they want her to be #on the other that could totally change with this version and she still gets to flirt shamelessly with james
Iconic recurring part that also means hopefully more than just one film. I just hope she has plenty to do. There must be a reason they’re bringing Moneypenny to the Craig-era films now when she wasn’t in them before, maybe they have big plans for her? *flicker of hope*

EEEE OH GOD I HOPE THEY DO THIS RIGHT.
